As a Broadway dancer, I spent decades performing in beautiful shoes that often came at the expense of comfort. After years on stage in productions like Chicago, Cats, and Smokey Joe’s Café, I understood something deeply: women should never have to choose between elegance and how their feet feel.

That realization became the inspiration for the PAUSE by BBRAXTON™ Travel Shoe Collection.

This design began as a simple sketch on a shoe last and has evolved into a refined travel shoe featuring soft ivory tones, elegant woven textures, and our signature gold butterfly emblem—a symbol of transformation, renewal, and embracing your next chapter.

These feet have carried us through auditions, rehearsals, eight-show weeks, opening nights, standing ovations, heartbreak, triumph, and decades of movement.

As dancers, we spend our careers asking our feet to do extraordinary things. We point them, turn on them, jump on them, and often ignore them until they start asking for a little grace in return.

I’ll confess something.

When I found myself dating again later in life, I worried. Would someone see my feet and think they were unattractive? Would they see the wear and tear before they saw me?
Then one day I realized something.
These feet aren’t damaged. They’re accomplished.

And now, as many of us navigate perimenopause, menopause, and the beauty of becoming women of a seasoned age, comfort is no longer something we apologize for wanting. It’s something we’ve earned.

That’s part of the reason I created PAUSE by BBRAXTON™. I wanted a travel shoe that understood the needs of women whose feet have lived a full life—women who still want elegance, but who also deserve comfort.
